Baguio Trip, Summer 2015, Part I: Baguio Classics

April 13, 2015 by fluffypwets

We were lucky enough to be in Baguio towards the Araw ng Kagitingan holiday, and we indulged in good, old fashioned Baguio classics.

Stay at the Baguio Country Club

The Baguio Country Club is nothing short of an institution. Mention it and people automatically think: mmm.. raisin bread! The hotel is located in Camp John Hay and is conveniently located near famous Baguio tourist attractions. To be able to book, you need to be a member, be endorsed by one, or be part of a corporate event held there. Rooms are spacious, comfortable, and airy. There is no need for air conditioning, thanks to the wonderful breezy Baguio weather. We went right in the middle of summer, and the weather was pleasant. We have a very active 2 year old who can’t stop moving, so we sometimes need to turn on the room’s ceiling fan to keep cool. Overnight accommodations come with buffet breakfast with a wide selection of their yummy bread, greens, rice (must have carbs!), and usual breakfast fare like salmonized bangus, corned beef, longganisa, and an eggs station (a must have in breakfast buffets in my opinion) where you can request to have your eggs cooked just the way you like them. I haven’t asked for eggs Benedict, which is my absolute favorite; and just settled with cheese omelet, my baby’s favorite. And of course, our stay would not be complete without making pasalubong purchases at the famous BCC Bakeshop. Our family in Manila are waiting for those yummy baked goodies!

Baguio Country Club Kids’ Playground

BCC is a family- and kid-friendly place. It has its own indoor (The Kids’ Club) and outdoor playground, plus a bowling center, billiard tables, console stations, and a heated pool. How precious is this? Please, don’t grow up too fast!

 Pony Riding at Wright Park

We took our 2-year old to his first ever pony riding trip at Wright Park. Our son is so fascinated by animals. Before he turned 2, he was already familiar with most animal sounds and had outgrown Disney Junior for Nat Geo Wild. (Not National Geographic, but Nat Geo Wild!) I don’t even have the stomach to watch those lions and crocodiles prey on smaller animals, but our son loves it. He also has lots of miniature animal figures bought from toy shops in the malls and in Divisoria. So definitely, this part of the trip was his favorite.

Are you scared? “Ok lang”, he says, and holds up his thumb in an OK sign.

Next on the blog, we indulged in Filipino pop culture by visiting places popularized by recent hits like That Thing Called Tadhana and Forevermore!
