Cloth diapering is going mainstream!
Last April 18, Fluffy Pwets Cloth Diapers and the Modern Cloth Nappying Pinays hosted the Great Cloth Diaper Change (GCDC) at the Montgomery Place Clubhouse in Quezon City. We have yet to get the worldwide numbers, but the Philippines had a total of 232 babies changed into a cloth diaper that day, from 3 different venues held in the country: Quezon City, Alabang, and Mall of Asia in Manila.
Wow, we’ve come a long way. Jenny Ong of Chronicles of a Nursing Mom, who was heavily involved in the planning and staging of GCDC in the Philippines the first 2 tries and our overall witness this year, recalls that we did not qualify in 2013 because we did not reach the minimum number of participants (25 babies). In 2014, we were part of the top ten entries worldwide with a total of 88 participants. This year, we have 232! This shows cloth diapering is indeed catching on, and that’s because of the tireless efforts of CDing parents and advocates in showing their friends how fun and beneficial it is.
Cloth Nappying Dads Represent!
GCDCPH2015 was so much fun, and it was nice to see online friends in person. Our participants were a happy mix of single moms, dads, and even grandparents who are supportive of cloth diapering or who are interested in switching to cloth. Today, I wanted to feature some of the cloth nappying dads whom our official photographers, Kaizer Photography, were able to capture. Do you see your hubbies here? I know most cloth nappying dads are active in various ways – some are active even in online groups, some help in the diaper laundry, some join online gyeras (stockings), and some provide the shopping money. Every which way your partners or hubbies contribute to your cloth diapering journey, that’s something to be happy about. 🙂
